Comme un Chef was released on the beggining of 2012 but I took advantage of the fact it was only quite recently released in Portugal to watch it.Comme un Chef foi lançado no inÃcio de 2012 mas eu aproveitei o facto de só recentemente ter sido lançado em Portugal para o ver.
The movie tells the story of Jacky Bonnot (Michaël Youn), a 32 year-old talented amateur chef whose dream is to have a restaurant, dream which is finantial situation doesn't allow him to fullfil, forcing him to take smalls jobs.Everything changes on the day Jacky crosses paths with Alexandre Lagarde (Jean Reno), a veteran chef who runs a three star restaurant, Cargo Lagarde.Together they will try to fight against the restaurant's new CEO, Stanislas Matter (Julien Boisselier), who tries to make Lagarde to lose a star in order to replace him by a chef specialized in molecular gastronomy.O filme conta a história de Jacky Bonnot (Michaël Youn), um chef amador talentoso de 32 anos cujo sonho é ter um restaurante, sonho o qual a sua situação financeira não lhe permite concretizar, forçando-o a aceitar pequenos empregos.Tudo muda quando um dia Jacky se cruza com Alexandre Lagarde (Jean Reno), um chefe veterano que gere um restaurante de três estrelas, o Cargo Lagarde. Juntos vão tentar lutar contra o novo CEO do restaurante, Stanislas Matter (Julien Boisselier), o qual tenta fazer com que Lagarde perca uma estrela para o substitir por um chefe especializado em gastronomia molecular.
Don't expect a masterpiece out of Comme un Chef. If you do, you will be mischieved: this is another light french comedy, predictable and yet with an over used formula that works perfectly. If you have a bit of culinary interest, than you can add another reason to spend some good time watching this movie.The plot may be a bit cliché (a very famous chef battling to maintain his position in front of a restaurant, running out of ideas, when he stumbles across a young gifted chef who happens to be a fan of his work and is more than glad to help him) but I found the acting quite refreshing. Reno fits perfectly in his role but I'd say the biggest surprise here is Youn, whose interpretation is rather interesting, combining in a duet of actors that actually works.This movie doesn't try anything else than entertaining the viewer for an hour and a half but yet if fullfils its purpose.Não esperem uma obra de arte do Comme un Chef. Se o fizerem, vão ser iludidos: este é outro filme leve de comédia francesa, previsÃvel e ainda assim com uma fórmula usada demasiadas vezes que funciona perfeitamente. Se tiverem algum interesse culinário, então podem adicionar uma razão para passar um bom tempo a ver este filme.A história pode ser um pouco cliché (um chefe muito famoso que luta por manter a sua posição à frente de um restaurante, a ficar sem ideias, quando se cruza com um jovem chef talentoso que até é fã do seu trabalho e fica mais que feliz em ajudá-lo) mas achei a representação bem refrescante. Reno encaixa perfeitamente no seu papel mas eu diria que a maior supresa aqui é Youn, cuja interpretação é bem interessante, combinando-se num dueto de actores que na verdade funciona.Este filme não tenta mais nada além de entreter o espectador por uma hora e meia mas ainda assim cumpre o seu objectivo.
My rate: 3/5 - It isn't one of those life changing movies but it definitely entertains you for a while and makes you laugh quite often. If you happen to love food (specially french food), be sure to watch it!A minha classificação: 3/5 - Este não é um daqueles filmes que mudam a nossa vida mas entretém-nos definitivamente por um pouco e faz-nos rir bem frequentemente. Se gostarem de comida (especialmente de comida francesa), vejam este filme!
