This week I have a little more time to go in depth with why I am thankful for each of my 30 days of Thanks items linked up! so tune in every day this week for my in-depth rambling of thanks.
25. Holidays. I always loved that song "It's the most wonderful time of the year"... because it really is the "happiest season of all"!
This isn't my house... but last year we went looking at Christmas lights and this was the craziest one. I wish the picture would have come out better but this is what I got. You can read more of my Christmas adventures from last year here. I just love the holidays. And when I say holidays I'm referring to October, November and December.. although most consider Christmas and New Years the "holidays". Halloween starts it all on this journey through these last few months at the end of each year. I haven't liked Halloween too much the past few years because I feel like some adults just use it as an excuse to dress ridiculous and inappropriate. After all I consider Halloween a kid's holiday. I am excited in the next year because now we have a little kiddo that we can dress up and take trick-or-treating! Halloween was one of my favorite holidays growing up and my brother used to make me watch scary movies when he babysat me...so I've seen all the Nightmare on Elm Streets, & scary movies from the 1990's. It's just fun as a little kid to dress like your favorite movie character or something scary. Then comes Thanksgiving. What a great holiday to reflect on all that you are thankful for. Sometimes this life can get hard and bring you down but if you have a roof over your head, food to eat, clothes on your back and ones that love you..than really you are blessed. And did I mention the delicious thanksgiving meal that we get to take part in? Yum. I won't be having it this year because we aren't going to my mom's house but my mom always makes a turkey, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, stuffing (which she cooks in the turkey...oh my word, so good), pumpkin pie, and lemon slide dessert. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
And finally Christmas time. The whole month from Thanksgiving to Christmas just seems magical. People thinking of other people, buying gifts for others and the kindness shared between friends and family. I just love it. The magic of Santa Clause in a child's eyes as they run to the tree on Christmas day to see what he has brought them. Christmas music is so happy! The birth of a savior. I just love the season! Then New Years, which I was never to fond of until last year. I always felt like New Years was an excuse to get drunk and make promises that always get broken in a week anyways....sorry if that's brutally honest. Then last year came and I was blessed to unite with the man of my dreams forever on New Years Eve. Forever, New Years will be one of my favorite holidays as we ring in each year with the blessing of our relationship! Then it all seems almost sad when it's over and we're are back to boring old January, as we await for it to all start over again in October. But it's good that the holidays only last a few months because it makes each time precious and special.26. Our service men and women. The military. They keep us safe!
27. Air Conditioning...and heat. but I live in Florida so mostly, Air Conditioning!I've been watching that show Revolution on NBC. Have you seen it? Well basically, the whole world has lost power and governments have fallen.. the militia is in charge. Well, while the whole show scares me and I hope that we never face such difficult trials. I also think about how they don't have air conditioning or heat. We are so lucky to live in a time where we have such things...especially in Florida. so yes, air conditioning is a blessing.
28. Chapstick. Carmex. Blistex. Couldn't live without them!
29. Disney.
Noland & I love Disney. It's similar to the holidays in the fact that Disney is so magical! I like the parks because as a kid, the idea of meeting Mickey Mouse or other characters just make a child's eyes light up. Last year we went to Disney World for Christmas with Noland's family. It was so awesome to watch his one year old niece and nephews (4 & 7) see the characters that they love! They couldn't wait to meet each character we ran into. Also, as you know, we love Disney movies... my husband has even posted a countdown of his favorite Disney movies on my blog before.. You can see that here. Haha.
30. Flip Flops.
& that's all for today! tune in tomorrow for more thankfuls.xoxo. Jen
