I bought this vintage high chair at a thrift store while I was pregnant with the baby {partially because it was cool, partially because I needed one}. *I have no idea where the photo went, and because we lost all data on our computer a while back I have no previous photo. You can see the high chair here too.
Well the cool thing about this high chair is that with the top off it slides right under the table, so its kinda like a "high" chair, and the baby can eat with us. No more floating chair in the really small room {with a 7-foot table} with his booster seat in it.
Insert problem: THIS BOY NEVER SITS STILL....even while eating. It's always "Jonah, sit down.....JONAH, sit down!!!" Over and over until you're blue in the face. Forget turning around to finish cooking a meal because he sees you in the kitchen therefore its time to eat, so he climbs in his chair.
I thought I was going to go nuts! Then I remembered that a while back I pinned this Travel High Chair on Pinterest. Ya know the ones you pin thinking "that's a great idea, only if I'll remember it". I kept telling my husband I was going to make a seat belt for him. Not that the husband doesn't believe me that I'll make it, it is just a matter of WHEN I'll make it.
I decided one morning I was going to make it. I really liked the idea of a quilted look like in the tutorial, so I set off to target to see what they had that was boyish. Well that was a fail. But as I walked through the isles I noticed their towels were on sale for $3.75 each. I picked one up and looked at it, it was enough to make the travel high chair!
It went together really easy and fast...aside from the baby climbing on the table WAY TOO MANY times while I was laying out the fabric and attempting to cut it.
What I love about it, besides it's orange and matches my kitchen. I love that its a towel, I can wash it off really quick after the messy baby gets out and wring it out and set it to dry before the next time he's hungry and it doesn't get all icky like cotton can do sometimes. Towels are made to get wet and air dry.
